four hundred twenty nine

    • thanks robert! anymore, i rarely leave home without one. in fact, if i only take one camera on a day trip, it is the full spectrum with a filter or two and i’ll leave the dslr at home. I have recently become partial to the micro 4/3 mirrorless cameras so it is quite a bit less cumbersome than a dslr with a bulky lens. and you aren’t kidding about capturing the canyon. this photo needed multiple masked curves layers to get it to look “right”. the top of the canyon would have been washed out or the bottom totally underexposed and under-contrasted. without using black and white film and meticulously using the zone system for exposure and development, this scene just isn’t reasonably capturable in a one shot process.
