six hundred fifty six

once productive, now destructive

… A building in the Ward Mining District, just outside of Ely, Nevada. A very historic site back over a century, but this building was just full of core samples, labeled and numbered from the 1980’s. It was all just totally abandoned, like one day someone said, “hey we should leave,” and everyone stopped what they were doing and walked out and never returned. Shelves and shelves full of cores in boxes. Even a whole other building full of these core samples. They ranged from completely gray to sparkly white with ribbons of slightly other hues. The roof in several areas had been entirely removed, almost like it was torn off by a giant.
