six hundred sixty six

long white veil

… A sort of close up of Rainbow Falls in Devil’s Postpile National Monument near Mammoth, California. I would assume it is called Rainbow Falls for the rainbows the mist creates in the sunlight. It was about a 2.5 mile hike (5 miles roundtrip) because the mandatory shuttle buses weren’t running for another week yet. A beautiful hike past the postpiles and along the river. There were quite a few fishermen out, even a few horses on the trail. We hiked over the river to where the trail met up with the PCT (Pacific Crest Trail). Someday I hope/plan to do that hike.
