… The Tufas at Mono Lake, California off of US highway 395. The rock formations look a lot like cave formations but above ground. They were formed under water in the salty Mono Lake when the water was much higher and covering the formations. Due to the perpetual drought, many of the streams and tributaries that fed Mono Lake were cut off and diverted elsewhere. Only just recently have some of these been put back to attempt to refill the lake slowly. We’ll see if that happens. On the north side of the lake near the county park/picnic area there were signs all over saying “City of Los Angeles Property,” mind you, this is over 300 miles away from Los Angeles. Makes you scratch your head for a second.
